Katakolon, Greece

Our last port was to Katakolon, the original site for the ancient Greek Olympics. In way of ruins it is not the prettiest place (mostly short pillars where buildings used to stand), but it was the most interesting tour of the trip.

We really got in the Olympic spirit and some of us raced barefoot at the track, just like the ancient Greeks.

We stopped for a quick bite, savoring the most amazing gyros. They came with steak fries inside, which sounded weird and tasted amazing. I wonder if that is a common thing in Greece? If not, it should be.

With an hour to kill, those of us recovered from the plague and not sunburned went to the beach.
